5 Nights in New Orleans : 5 Destinations

It is everything to me to be able to take a break and wind down, preferably, over the span of a week ;)

There is always one planned trip a year that gives me all the vibes and all the excitement. This Summer was an amazing planned vacation to N.O.L.A (or New Orleans, Louisiana for those that don't know) !! I had never been before this week away and I'm ecstatic to be able to share some of the finer sides of N.O.L.A and where you need to visit when you go.

1st stop, St. Louis Cathedral
In the center of it all, with a breathtaking view from across Decatur St., the Cathedral is on most everyone's list of sites to visit. Jackson Square, right in front of St. Louis Cathedral, is a picture perfect green space with a touch of Louisiana culture when jazz pours from the street. Not to mention, the river's edge is only across the way.

Studio BE is an art installation created by Brandan Odums in the form of a 35,000 sq. ft. warehouse. A majority of the art pieces were done with spray paint. The works reflect the generation of Black American activists and combining art with opposition. The warehouse has free admission and is open Wednesday-Saturday. Even though this isn't one of the more noticed sights around New Orleans, it is definitely something you have to see. It will give you a new perspective on racial violence and enlighten you on racial tensions in the U.S.

A green space that is a place to see in daylight, and a sight to see at night, is Louis Armstrong Park. The main attraction of the park is the opening arch. Every night the area closes at 8:00 pm, but if you happen to drive by or walk by it at night, stop to enjoy "ARMSTRONG" lit up across its' white arch. The most simplistic, shining view ✪

Looking for upper-scale shopping?? or maybe a photo opp?

Canal Place is in Downtown New Orleans and has a variety of luxury retailers. The entire layout of the building is a glorious design that incorporates greenery as well as mood lighting. Glass elevators that go up to the attached hotel add just one more step of glamour to the luxurious business space.

Last, but certainly not least, is N.O.L.A's river walk and the Outlet Collection. I always think the more shopping the better! There's a food court to eat at and plenty of stores to browse. Not to mention the view right outside the doors that lead straight to the river's edge.
