DIY: Pretty in Pastel
I just can't help it, I've been so obsessed with home decor and interiors lately. I've been changing and updating things in my house all summer long! I don't think there will ever be a time where I'm not redecorating/reorganizing. It's one of my favorite things to do to occupy my time. ⌂
My most recent project was changing up the color of the little nook in my window. I can't believe it took me so long to change it because now I absolutely love it! It was only about a 4-6 hour project that made all the difference in the room. Hopefully this will inspire you to do a little DIY or give you some inspiration for decorating a small, cozy window.
The first step with any paint project is to late out a tarp or towel to cover any surfaces that could potentially get splattered with paint. If you choose to, you'll have to lay painter's tape around the edges. I didn't and it was perfectly fine, but it's up to you.
Next, you'll want to pour the primer in a paint tray. From there you should start by brushing the edges. Once that's done it's okay to start rolling the rest of the wall. Depending on the previous color, the opaqueness of the primer, and the color you're choosing to paint with, will determine the coats of primer you need. My wall was a dark raspberry, so I used 2 coats of primer to fully cover everything. You will want to let each layer dry for about an hour (especially if the area you're in is humid).
After the last coat of primer is applied, you'll want to wash off the tray, roller, and brush. When the primer is dry go ahead and pour your chosen color unto a dry paint tray. At this point you'll want to use a separate brush/roller that is completely dry. Between the two coats, the dry time was the same (1 hour).
For the rest of the day, I left it to dry and lit a candle on my desk to help with the paint fumes.
So, there you have a mini DIY. What home projects have you done this summer? Are you going to give your house a little spruce?

Decorating was super simple> Curtains are from Target, scrunchies from Amazon, bracelet stand from Michaels, and lantern lights from Target a couple years back.
