10 Ways to Save Money $$$

Saving money is a very important life skill and can be hard for many to accomplish. I figured I would give you all some tips and tricks on how to make the most of your money.

1) Shop at a Local Thrift Store
Some people have a perception that all thrift stores are made up of junky, used clothes. When actually, a lot of the stuff you find is nice and possibly a staple in your wardrobe. If you are worried about it being used then, wash it after you have purchased it or look for the new clothes section of the thrift store. If traveling is a hobby of yours, you should check out the thrift stores where you go and keep in mind that bigger cities normally have more high end clothing.

2) Sale/Clearance first
Before shopping the regular price racks, check out clearance and then see what's on sale.

3) Check for Coupons
It's so easy to pull up a coupon on your phone just by searching in the store's name and the word coupon. Just be sure to read the exclusions.

4) Use Store Apps
Apps like Target Cartwheel and Starbucks are not only great for seeing whats available, but you can sign up and save. For instance, when you get the Starbucks app you can sign up, pay with a gift card, and earn points to get a free item. On Cartwheel, you are able to get exclusive discounts on any category of product.

5) Shop at Discounted Stores💸
Places like TJMaxx, Marshalls, Homegoods, and Ross offer items that come from the stores that you usually shop at, but with a cheaper price tag. The best times to check out these stores are January and July when they are clearing out last seasons merchandise. Outlet stores are also great because it's the irregular, damaged, or exclusive products from the actual store.

6)Set Aside or Deposit Money💰
Saving money doesn't have to be a chore! Depositing, or putting away, small amounts of money each month will add up. Even just $20 will be enough to help you create a savings and you can ask your bank if you are able to set up a monthly deposit from your checking to your savings account.

7) Find a Hobby
How many times have you gone shopping when you don't need anything? Its very easy to get sucked into going on a shopping trip when your bored, but restrain yourself. Finding something else to do on the weekends can help. I like to bike ride 🚲 and I have found that I am more inclined to bike than go shopping on a beautiful weekend.

8) Don't Waste the Change 🐖
If you have a habit of throwing your coins in a jar and never bothering them again, then think twice before you neglect another piggy bank of coins. If you buy coin sleeves, you can wrap up your coins and deposit them at the bank. I also like to empty my change purse when I go shopping so I don't collect even more and can easily pay the exact amount tax.

9) Remember: The Convenience of Shopping Online isn't Always Worth It 👗
Sure you might be feeling lazy and you don't want to go out to buy that dress that you sadly left at the store, but that doesn't mean going on the store website is the best bet. You might find yourself buying $50 worth of stuff instead of that $10 dress because of free shipping. Half of the stuff you buy probably won't even fit and you'll have to mail it back to return it. Don't do that, check other websites that may offer free shipping, wait 'til next weekend, or just tell yourself it wasn't meant to be and if its there next time then you can have it. Chances are it will be there and you wouldn't have wasted money trying to get free shipping.

10) Ask yourself, "Do you really need this?"
There are 4 answers to this question... yes, no, its kind of expensive and I really like it. If you answer yes, then chances are you may or may not really need it, but you still love it and feel like its worth the money. In this case, you should buy it or otherwise you will regret leaving it at the store. If you answer no, you are having serious doubts. Just put it down and walkaway from it. If your response is its kind of expensive, think of the long term effect and how much use or wear you will get out of it. If its not a very high percentage of use than leave it, if you think you will get its worth out of it, then buy it. Lastly, if you say you really like it, you will probably regret leaving it. Buy it, see how you get on with it, and if you decide it didn't work out than keep your receipt and you can return it.
